I often get asked, what is Geriatric Medicine and what aged patients do you see?
I am a consultant in both General Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. This means I have the breadth and experience of diagnosing and treating most medical conditions.
Some specialist doctors have experience of predominantly dealing with one organ or very specific rare conditions. But understanding the interplay of multiple problems can be a dark art. Being a Consultant Geriatrician means that the people I see tend to be extremely complex, with various medical conditions and taking many medications. I have the ability to make a comprehensive assessment to tailor your care bespoke to you as a person.
I therefore see patients of all ages from 18 to 100+. I put the patient at the centre of my assessments and actively listen to your concerns. Time is not a barrier, and no leaf will go unturned in making sure you receive the very best, evidence-based care you deserve.
